Good Words

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way. - Anon

4 Months

Took EM for his 4 month checkup yesterday and he is doing good, except his head is crooked (plagiocephaly), too much time on his back and not enough on his tummy. The good news is he doesn't have to have a helmut (as long as it doesn't get worse). Doc said we could let him sleep on his tummy, that would help.

At every well check up the doctor gives us reading material. I don't know about you but my kids have never been at the place the paper says most (insert age) mo/yr olds are at.

For example:

"Most babies now take about 6 oz. every 4 to 5 hours." Please, try every three hours, rarely more and only if he is sleeping.

"Most babies are sleeping through the night by 4 months of age and will also nap 4 to 6 hours during the daytime." Ah, right, if only. I'm still waiting for HT to stay in bed all night, every night.

Speaking of HT, he got a flu shot yesterday and we are paying for it today, he is on his third pair of pajamas, the bedding is in the wash, and we are scrubbing the carpet. He was up twice last night saying that his belly hurt. My sweet poor baby. We may all stay in our pajamas today.

Bubbles!

It was a lovely day yesterday, despite being cold and brisk. HT insisted that he needed to go outside and he needed bubbles, so while little brother napped we went out.

Even the frogs were enjoying the sunshine!

Let me explain.

I suppose I should explain why I decided to start up this blog again.

Well, I asked a friend if she did any scrap booking, and she said no, that's why she kept a blog. She periodically will print it out and keeps it in notebooks. I thought that was a good idea. Lord knows I have spent way too much money on supplies for doing scrap books, and have very little to show for it. (I am still trying to put together an album on our wedding! And that was over 5 years ago.)

That being said . . . I may from time to time try to fill in gaps from the last two years or not. (Just don't expect them to be in any chronological order.)

This is HT at 4 months old.

This is EM at 4 months old.

Can you tell they are brothers?

Okay, Okay, alright, already, geez!

"Forgive me Father, for I have sinned, it has been several years since my last confession." Okay, so I'm not catholic but sometimes trying to keep a blog is like doing penance. And as you can tell it has been years. Auntie started this and had refused to blog any more until Mama and Papa contributed, after all we are the parents. So that's where is ended, but now where do I start. Do I ignore the time gap or do I try to pick up where we left off?

I will try to catch up, but will keep it brief.

2008 came and went, sorry no Christmas jig. The computer crashed and we lost a whole year of pictures.

Got pregnant again in January 2009, hated it. But love the result! Isn't he cute. This is Charming's brother! He was born on October 6, one day shy of being born on big brothers' birthday.

Christmas 2009 was really fun. Now that Charming is older he is much more "into" the spirit of Christmas! My favorite thing was when he told me he loved Santa, then after a contemplative moment asked "Mama, what do Santa do?"

(BTW, what do you think of the stockings, I made them myself!)

There, now you're almost caught up!

Charming's Christmas Jig

Just thought you'd enjoy watching Charming rock!

Charming's 1st Birthday posted a little late :)

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know I've been a slacker. I didn't post for Charming's 1st birthday. Let me tell you he was adorable. He was the Prince and he had a crown to prove it.

He was a bit uncertain about playing with his cake. He kept looking at Mama & Papa as if to say "Really, you'll let me do this?"

But then he got into it. Although more of the cake ended up his nose than in his belly!

He loved his presents, although I'm not sure if it was the presents or the tags!

One of his favorite toys is this box that his diapers came in!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Merry Christmas to all our family and friends,

We hope this finds you all happy and blessed. We have been well and hope that you have also.

This has been an exciting year of firsts for us, Charming’s first tooth, the first time he crawled, his first step, the discovery of food and the fact that if you pinch a pea between your finger and thumb just right you can make it explode, his first word (car, at least it ‘s the first one said meaningfully and that Mama and Papa could understand), his first boo boo and the first stitches.  What a joy it has been watching Charming grow and learn new things. We are delighted everyday! I look at the pictures of him from a year ago and am amazed at the change.

We pray that you enjoy this holiday season to its fullest – singing carols, wrapping presents and decorating.  Spend time with your family and friends all the while remembering that a baby was born in a manger long ago, the first Christmas gift.
