Happy Birthday Again

Before we leave the birthday wishes I wanted to post a few more photos.  We did actually sing to the boys on their actual birthday's.

EM's birthday was the sixth and rather than making a cake we used the leftover cupcakes from the party.  Three is such a cute age and I am really loving watching him grow, I just wish I could keep him little awhile longer.

He thought the candle was candy and took a bite out of it after he blew out the candle and then didn't eat the cupcake.

HT's birthday was on the seventh and he asked if I would make him his very own birthday cake so I did.  Don't you just love my frosting job?!  I ought to be on "Cake Boss" or something, don't ya think!?

I ran out of the white frosting and had to finish with the green.  He loved it any way and loved being the center of attention.

I do love this boy!

Happy Birthday to You and You and You and You and Me

There now we are caught up through November 24th.  Well sort of, I may re-hash Halloween and Thanksgiving, but that's another post.

So since I last posted a lot has been going on or at least it seems like a lot, or I could just be making excuses for ignoring this blog and the pleas for another post.  I don't know why you people stick around.

Anyway . . . way back in September we celebrated my sisters birthday and it was a big one, not that I'm telling or anything but there was a 5 and a 0 involved.  Not that she looks a day over 39 again.

Then in October we celebrated EM's third birthday and HT's sixth birthday.  We had one big party for the both of them and invited both friends and family.

We also celebrated my boy's Grandpas seventieth birthday, but looking back through the pictures I failed to get a single one.  We had the lovely privilege of having he and Grandma here for the occasion.

And my birthday . .  well my birthday was spent very nicely.  Hubs took me out for a romantic dinner and the best part is that Amex picked up the tab in a round about way, you see it was their "Shop Local" saturday campaign so we ate at a local restaurant, spent at least $25 and will get a $25 credit on our next bill.  Fabulous!

Color Run

Long about mid September in celebration of someones 50th *cough* (Auntie's) *cough* birthday we had a houseful of people, the most wonderful people in the world and they decided that the monumental thing to do besides the party we had planned for the actual birthday day was to join in the fun of the 5K Color Run.

Team Faberlicious!

Now lest you should start congratulating me on getting off my arse and exercising, I did not go but sent my dear sweet eldest boy instead.  I have issues with my feet and working in retail isn't helping, but that's another story for another day perhaps.  Besides someone needed to take pictures.
Anyway . . . the point of a color run, besides the obvious, there are no winners or losers, is to have fun, that is if you call getting pelted with multi colored chalk along the way fun.  Oh, and they recommend that you wear all white. T-shirts were ordered for the occasion, even though the event provided one as part of the entry fee.

...and they're off!

The aftermath!
Lest you think I walked away unscathed, someone thought it would be funny to place a chalked hand on my backside!

He said he was just adjusting the sticker . . . riiight. . .

I was very proud of my little racer, he ran/walked the whole way.

Five!

Happy Birthday HT!

This boy turned five today and as you can see his little brother was as excited as he was.

This is a boy who sees an upside down smile, not as a frown, but as a rainbow.  I love his antics and his optimism.  I am truly blessed and so in love with this charming boy.

Two!

Happy Birthday EM!

I have lots to say about this little guy, but it will have to wait for another day, but I couldn't let this day end without letting him know how much I love him, how much we all love him and his charming ways!

Flashback

Saturday will mark my parents 56th wedding anniversary, so I thought that this picture would be fitting for today's flashback friday photo.  This picture is from Christmas sometime in the late 80's.  I find it delightful and funny that my dad would give my mom a new toilet seat as a present and so did she.  I wrote about their anniversary last year, you can read about it here, and see a picture of them on their wedding day.

And since today is my nephews birthday I will also include this picture of him.  He is twenty-five today. Happy Birthday Warren!

Forever Young

Okay maybe not, but wasn't I cute!

One year old me.

Today is my birthday so I am shamelessly going to wish myself Happy Birthday on this here blog and encourage you to do the same.
Maybe 18 months here.
Wish me a happy birthday that is . . .

5 or 6 and my first pair of glasses.
. . .  so all you lurkers out there who have come and read my blog but have never commented this is the perfect opportunity to say hello.

8 or 9 perhaps, hello toothless grin!
As you can tell my mother wasn't very good about putting dates on pictures so the only one I know for sure is the first one, 'cuz back in the day they used to put the baby's first year birthday picture and announcement in the local newspaper and I know she got my picture took, but whether or not I made it into print, I just don't know.

My softball career didn't last long, but my knees have fond memories.  NOT!
I seem to have been very adept at avoiding the camera during part of the late 80's and most of the 90's.  I did scan a few more pictures in but blogger seems to think I don't have permission to use my own pictures and it won't upload them.  Stupid blogger.  I tried adding them to my flickr account but blogger didn't like the url and still wouldn't let me add the photos.  Stupid blogger.  If any of you all have any suggestions, please let me know.  And if you must see a current picture of me there's one in the previous blog post.

Anyhoo, I digress.

If you promise not to ask how old I am, I promise not to tell.

Let's just say I'm old enough to know better, m-kay.

Ya know,  they say that aging is a state of mind, but would someone please tell that to my knees or my aching back or the wrinkles or the really blonde hairs that are taking over and the bags under my eyes, we can't forget about them, no matter how much we try to cover them up.  Some days I wonder what in the heck am doing with two little boys.  Supposedly they keep me young, but by the end of the day I am exhausted.  I'm old enough to be their grandmother, their very "young" beautiful grandmother, but none the less, I'm that old.  I worry about having enough energy to keep up with them, when they start school or when they become teenagers or when they graduate from college or get married, will I still be around?  My own parents died relatively young by today's standard so if you average that with how old I am I should be dead in 20 years.

So far this is the oldest I've ever been.

But lets not think about that.  All in all I am very thankful for my life and the people in it and I wouldn't change a thing, now lets get back to you leaving me a comment and wishing me the happiest of birthdays and making my day all warm and fuzzy.

Thanks all.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear me, happy birthday to me.

Par-tay!

Last week my in-laws were here to visit and to help us celebrate the boys' birthday's and it felt like one big party all. week. long. and I am exhausted.  They arrived last Tuesday afternoon and the party didn't end till they left early, very very early Monday morning.

On Wednesday we celebrated EM's birthday.

On Thursday we sang Happy Birthday to HT.

Grandma & Grandpa bought him a bike for his birthday.
Grandpa showing him how the brakes work.
HT told his Grandma in a breathless voice when they went for a walk/ride on Friday, "Grandma, I wuv my new bike."  He spent all yesterday afternoon riding it around a church parking lot just east of our house.

On Saturday we invited several friends to Cornbelly's to celebrate the boys' birthday's and man did the kids have fun.  It lived up to its expectations and beyond, every one went home good and tired and I for one know that both my boys slept through the night and didn't wake up till 7:30 the next morning.

It was like a carnival, with rides, games, face painting and more in addition to the corn maze, which we never made it to.  The kids were more interested in all the other stuff.

On the way home after lamenting that he never got his face painted HT told me, "Mama I never seen an ant poop before!"   Yeah me either, pretty sure I don't want to and what poop has to do with face painting I don't know.  I will never understand how this kids mind works.

A caterpillar cake.
Auntie with EM
Alex and HT, laughing at the idea that if you cut into the caterpillar a butterfly would come out.
Opening presents.
The boys absolutely loved this slide and spent most of their time playing here.  They would pile the straw on the end so that when someone slid down they would slide right through it.
Caleb, HT and Isabella
I wanted to get a picture of all the kids together, but it was near impossible to get everyone back together after we were done eating cake and opening presents.

Papa, Mike, HT, Isabella and Nadew

What a couple of goofs, they wanted to sit on the horse but we talked them out of it.
The boys had an absolute blast.  Who wouldn't when you've got such loving indulgent grandparents, they showered them with loves, hugs and kisses not the mention the birthday presents.  All's quiet here on the western front so to speak, back to the same old, same old routine of our boring everyday lives.  Truth be told I enjoyed them too and wished they could have stayed at least one more day.

Thanks for everything and all that you do for us, we had such a lovely visit and can't wait for next time.

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.

Four!

Today is HT birthday and if you hadn't figured it out already he turned four and he is very excited to be four now, except when asked by his cousin if he was really four, he said yes but that it hadn't got into his head yet.  Whatever that means.  Tried to get him to count to four but he wouldn't do it, can't decide if he just wanted to be contrary or to exercise a little independence.

He is full of vim and vigor and entertains everyone around him, not a Sunday goes by that someone at church doesn't tell us what a delight he is.  He's been known to bound down the aisle yelling "Yipee, wahoo!" or "Wait for me!"  when all the children are called forward for the mini children's sermon before they are dismissed to Sunday school and he always has some comment or another, sometimes completely out of context to what is being said.  He has raised his hands as if calling a touchdown and shouted "Taco Bell", told them "That's silly!", told them all about his trains "I have Thomas, you know", and the fact that he lives in Utah.  Last Sunday when Pastor Mike did a recap of our Faith in Action service and asked "Where were you?" HT pipes up from the pews, "I was at school!"

I find myself wondering how do I temper his enthusiasm without crushing his spirit and when I said as much to someone at church their response was to tell me not to even try.  "Why would you want to?" they asked.  Well . . . what's cute at three or four is obnoxious at six.  However, he hasn't been called charming for nothing because he knows how to turn it on and I find that I am often charmed too.

Happy Birthday my sweet booberloo, I love you!

Lord, thank you for the blessing of another day, for the life you give and for the gift of your mercy and grace.

Oh, Happy Day

EM turned one year old today, not that he was much into birthday celebrations.  It's sometimes hard to believe that a year ago we were welcoming him into our family and now I can't imagine life without him.  He is growing so big and he delights me every day with his antics.  He has figured out that he can walk backwards and had to show off his new talent to Grandma and Grandpa when they got here from MN yesterday.  He has also discovered that he has inflection in his voice and will walk around saying "Uh-ah" in a sing song of high note then low note.  He's got competing cowlicks in the back of his hair which often result in an Alfalfa type hairdo that is just so darn cute!  Not that I'm biased or anything.

Happy Birthday my little big man.  I love you.

Lord, thank you for the blessing of this day, for the love of little ones and for the life you have given me.

"You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.  To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.  O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever."  Psalm 30: 11-12
